The 48-year-old border patrol agent Michael Settle, her ex-husband, shot and killed Kerri on Sunday before ending his own life. Police Chief John Barber stated that Kerri’s home at 10 Sailors Cove was the scene of the altercation. Despite her efforts to flee, Kerri was fatally shot in the front yard.

Kerri Settle was a passionate educator who had a lifelong passion for special education and served as an academic leader. She graduated from John S Shaw High School (1993) and received both a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and a Master’s Degree from the University of South Alabama.
